Day 5

Subject: Here's where Facebook ads really score, [firstname]

Hey [firstname]!

Yesterday I talked about some of the different types of Facebook ad you can have, but this wide selection ISN'T where Facebook really scores over other PPC advertising platforms like Google AdWords.

The secret to Facebook's success when it comes to advertising, comes in its ability to drill down to target ONLY people who are likely to be interested in your ad.

Because of the amount of information Facebook has about its users, you can target your ads with laser guided accuracy. You can both include and EXCLUDE people on a wide variety of criteria including:

Age
Gender
Location (Country, state, city or zip code)
Language
Education
Relationship status
Political views (if they've chosen to share them)
Hobbies
Interests
And more!

How can you benefit from this?

Let's say you have a bridal shop in Beverly Hills. You can set your ad up so that it ONLY shows to women in their 20's and 30's who live in southern California and have listed their relationship status as engaged. If you're a teenager, live in northern California, or list your relationship status as married, you're not going to see the ad not that you'd be interested anyway; which is the whole idea.

By contrast, Google AdWords, only let you target by keyword, and location. That means some guy in his 40's who lives in Long Beach and is googling Bride of Frankenstein might see your bridal shop ad and click it out of curiosity. He's not going to be interested in buying a wedding dress, so that's a wasted click you're gonna have to pay for.

See what I mean? Not so many people will see your ad, but those who DO are more likely to react positively to it.

We're talking QUALITY over QUANTITY here.
